The Hawke’s Bay Charitable Aid Board is fast becoming a veritable Bumbledom. At last meeting of that Board it was resolved to vote the almoner, Mr S. Johnson, £SO for dispensing alms. This action on (he part of the Board is a gross wrong to tho taxpayers, as such an appointment is absolutely unnecessary. Mrs Hall did the work here for years without asking for a penny of compensation, and Constable Treanor doea it now ; while police officers do the work in various districts.
