Shocking Accident.

A very senous accident happened a» ,Ve T ? U ? S ? l iytoa y° un S man named rVr T £. ld ' 17 y eais of age, son of Mr J. Pinfold, of Woodville, who was frightfully gored by a cow. It appears that Pinfold was staying with Ins brother-in-law, Mr C. Voss, of Lairanga, and the pair were out on the farm endeavoring to separate a cow from her calf, when tie animal rushed at Pinfold and buritd her horn in his neck, tearing tho windpipe and gullet. While on the ground the cow also trampled ont'ae unfortunate young fellow's body, inflicting several bruises of a painful nature. The ferocity with which the cow rushed hor victim may be imagined when it is stated that one of her horns was snapped oft in the encounter. Affcar the occurrence Dr Satchell was summoned to Mr Voss's residence and stitched up the wounds. Although the injuries received are of a serious nature, hopes are entertamed of Pinfold's recovery.—Standaid.
