WOODVILLE V.PAHIATUA.

the first fifteens of the above ' Clibs meet in their first Cup match o» Mr Nelson's ground to-morrow afternoon. These teams have met twice already this season in scratch matches, the Pahiatua team proving victorious on both occasions, but it is anticipated that Woodville will turn the tables to-morrow. The following, who have been chosen to represent Woodville, will, at any rate, take a lot of beating : WOODVILLE. Full-back: W. Dignan. Three-quarters: F. Troon, E. Troon, Smith. Halves : D. Wilson, D. McKenzie. Forwards: G. Bell, W. Inglis, W. Allan, S. Gardiner, J. Pinfold, A. H. Eosenberg, 0. Monckton, J. Peebles, T. Hall. Emergencies—Backs: H. Field, C. Lawrence. Forwards: G. Halliday, W. Scadden. PAHIATUA. Full-back: Greville. Three-quarters: Hackett, Witty, Cashion. Halves: Wood, Vile. Forwards: Lewis, Miller, King, Chambers, Gregory, Naylor, Barrett, Greville, Zeliwood. Emergencies Backs : Wallace, Yule, Weils. Forwards: Darley, Piper. The visitors will be entertained at dinner at the Masonic Hotel after the match, and a charge of admission •will be made at the gates to assist the players to that end. WOODVILLE 3rd. V. PAHIATUA 3iu>. The above match was played in Mr Nelson's paddock on Wednesday afternoon last, and was witnessed by a crowd of onlookers. The Woodville team was captained by Hutchings and the Pahiatua team by Vile. The reds won the toss and decided to defend the northern goal. The blue 3 took the kick-off which was followed by a bit of loose play when Thacker got the ball and drew first blood for the Blues by a try. He took the kick but did not succeed in raising the soore. The Beds were soon on the field again when Martin scored another try for the Blues from his own dribble. Harding took the kick but the ball was rushed. Pahiatua kicked off again and rushed it down the field, when Mills got a mark. Woods took the kick but failed to score. The Blues soon set the ball in motion, and took it up the field when Hutchings got in between the posts with a pretty run. Thacker took the kick but missed. The whistle then sounded half-time, with the score Blues 9, Reds nil. In the second spell Hutchings got away with the oval and was near scoring when full-back tripped him ; the Blues were given a free kick for this. Harding took it but the ball went wide. Home next got in with a fine run. Harding took the kick but failed to convert. The bather was set rolling again when Crichton got in from a loose forward rush. Thacker took the kick but failed, though a good shot. The whistle soon sounded time with the score Woodville 15, Pahiatua nil. For the Blues Thacker, Home, Hutching, (backs,) and Martin, E. Harding, and Hughes (forwards) played best and for the Reds Wilson, Woods, Miller, (backs) and Moore, Vile, and Coimell, (forwards). Mr L. Mann acted as referee and Messrs Rosenberg and Staff as line umpires to the satisfaction of everyone.

Mr A. Sandel has donated a guinea to the Football Club as his subscription for the present season. A trophy has been presented by Mr B. Bagley for competition amongst members of the local Football Club. Messrs E. Troon, D. McKenzie, A. Home, L. Mann, and 0. Somerville, were elected the Junior Selection Committee of the Football Club at the meeting of the Management Committee last night.
