State School Drawing Examinations.
At the meeting of the Education Board, < n Wednesday, the results of the annual first grade drawing examinations in connection with the various board schools in the district, were presented. A total of 5,036 papers were issued, of which 4,487 were worked. In freehand drawing, 785 passed, and 895 failed ; in geometry, 866 passed, 660 failed ; in scales, 593 passed, 309 fai’ed ; in model, 169 passed, 207 failed. The director of the Technical School (Mr Ei ley) comments in his report on the increasing interest that is shown in the examinations, and he remarks that from a commerical point of view, the work done in first grade drawing in the district schools will be invaluable. .
