PAHIATUA TOWN BOARD.
A DISPUTED ELECTION
On Wednesday Mr Tosswill lolgad at the R.M. Court petitions to void the election of Messrs Naylor and Sadcole as members of the Pahiatua Town Board. The following is the first petition We, the undersigned electors of the Pahiatua Town District and we, the undersignel candidates at the election held at Pahi itua on the 19lh day of September, 183 S, hereby declare that we verily believe thit at the election to the oltices of members of the Pahiatua Town Board, holden at Pahiatua on Wednesday, Uth bepto über, at which William Stewart, Albert West Sedcole, William Wilson McCardle, Alexander Reese, Henry William Briggs, Edward Navlor, and David Crewe were declared to be duly elected to the said offices the election of the said E I Ward Naylor is void upon the following grounds:— 1. That the persons signing the nomination paper of the said ElwarJ Naylot were not entitled to sign, 2. That the said Edward Naylor was not capable of being elected to, pc of holding the office to which he was declared elected.
3. That persons voted for the said Edward Naylor who were not entitled to vote at the said election, and we pray that enquiry may be made into the said election under the provisions of “ The Regulation of Local Elections Act, 1870," and that the said election may be declared void. Signed by the following candidates :
Joseph Burrows, William Wakeinan, Henry Sedcole. Signed by the folio ving electors: — T. Hughes, Charles R, Stokes, John Morrison, Charlotte Sedcole, Walter Best, S. Groves, John Price.
A similar petition has been lodged against the return of Albert West Sedoole on the following grounds:— 1. That the persons signing the nomination paper of the said Albert West Seicole were not entitled to sign. 2. That one Robert Lee voted for the said Albert West Sedcote by fraudenlently impersonating another person with the privity and consent of the said Albert West Sedcole.
3. That persons voted for the said Albert West Sedcole, who were not entitled to vote at the said election.
This petition is signed by the same candidates and electors.
