Thb Biteb Bit. — A well-known wholesale wine-merchant in New York, who also secretly manufacture champagne, did not want to dispense this on tbe occasion of the marriage of hie daughter ; so, in order to obtain a genuine first-class article, be ordered some from an importer of good reputation in Boston. It arrived, and looked, in regard to labels, &c, as a foreign article ; but when the company were enjoying the champagne, he accidentally looked at one of the corks, and found there hie own private mark. He had been drinking bis own wine, for which he had paid five times his own price. It had passed through several bands, labels changed, &c. There is a ship now sailing from Holland which waß built in 1658. She passed the Cape of Grood Hope in October, 1864, being at that time 224 yearß old. Nobody ever stands in the horse oars at Lavensworth, Kan. When a gentleman enters a car, the nearest young lady rises and offers him a seat. She then sits in his lap and both are satisfied.
