The s. a. Wonga Wonga from this port on the 7th inst. at 4 p. m., experienced a fresh gale from the S.W. onthe passage, latterly moderate, breeze and arrived at Lyttelton at 5 a.m. on the 9th ; left again same day about noon, had light southerly winds with a high swell from the eastward throuhout the passage and arrived at Port Chalmers at 7 p.m. on the 10th; left again at 1 p.m. on the 13th, had light head winds with a high swell from the eastward in the passage, arrived at Lyttelton at 7 p.m. on the 14th ; the s.s. Queen arrived same evening at 1 1 30 from Wellington ; the Wonga Wonga sailed from Lyttelton about noon on the 15th, experienced light head winds with a short chopping head sea during the first part of the passage, and from the Kai Kora peninsula fresh gales from the northward, calms and squally baffling weather with a very heavy swell from the N.E. during the greater part of the time, arriving in this harbour at 6 a.m. on the 18th inst.
