Prize Essays. — A premium of £50 is offered by the Government of Vancouver Island for an essay which shall be adjudged to set forth, in the clearest and most comprehensive manuer, the capabilities, resources, and advantages of Vancouver Island as a colony for settlement. An award will also be made for the second best essay.
Aliens Holding Real Property. — Governor Donglas gaye his asseut on the 28th of October to an act passed by tho Colonial Legislature to enable aliens to hold aud transmit real estate iv Vancouver Island and its dependencies as fully and indefeasibly as if they had been born British subjects.
