McLean Secbetakt, B. Kent. AT A MEETING held this evening, the 13th Januavy, by adjournment from a preliminary meeting held on the 10th inst. George Hunter, Esq., in the Chair. It was proposed by Mr. H. Owen, aud seconded by Mr. J. F. Wills, that the "Anniveisary Regatta 1 ' consist, of the following Sports, carried unanimously. Ist Race. " Whale Boat Race"— Entrance, lOs. Bd. First prize £ Second do. £ 2nd Race. " Dingies or Ships Cutters'' not exceeding 22 feet keel, over 22 feet, to allow one minute per foot — Entrance, 10s. 6d.- First prize £ Second do. £ 3rd Race. " Cargo Boats" of any description. Entrance, £1 Is. First prize £ Second do. £ 4th Race. "Gig Race" — Entrance, 10s. 6d. First prize £ Second do. £ sth Race. " Gig Race" Amateurs — Entrance, Prize lst and second. 6th Race. " Waterman's Boat Race" pair of Sculls — En - trance, 10s. 6d. First Prize £ Second do. £ 7th Race. "Skiffs" Amateurs — Entrance First priza £ Second do. £ Bth Race, " Duck Race" — Entrance, Prize £ REGULATIONS. No person, will be allowed to enter a boat for any Race unless a Subscriber of at least 10s. 6d. That no " false keel boats" of any description will be allowed to enter. All Racing Boats shall keep the Flag Boats and other distinguishing marks on the Port Hand. All Boats' may carry any aud what sail ihey please, but will not be allowed to use any oars or J throw ballast over board after starting . Boats on the port tack to bear up for boats on the starboard tack. Boats running free to keep away for boats on a wind. Any Boat willfully fouling another, to be considered distanced. Sailing Boats must have all sail on deck at the time of th° firing of the gun for starting. Each Boat to have _ " distinguishing flag* to be named at starting and kept up during ths race. The Gun for starting will be fired precisely at the hour named. Disputes occurring in any Race, must be made known to the J udges at the conclusion of the race. The decision of the Judges in all matters shall be final. Iv drawing for Stations, No. 1 will take choice, and the rest in rotation. Entrances for the various races will be received by the Treasurer, at the " Coach & Horses" Hotel, until 10 o'clock, on Tuesday, 2lst January. Post Entrances at Messrs. Bethuue & Hunter'a Office, until 10" o'clock a.m., on Weduesday, 22nd January. No Boat will be allowed to start until the entrance tnuney is pfiid. All entrance fees to be appropriated to Regatta purposes. No Public Money will be given unless two or more Beats start. 'xhe Prizes will be distributed at the " Coaoh and Horses*' Hotel, on Wednesday, the 29th inst., at 8 o'clock in the evening. In all Sailing Matches, two guns will be fired, the flrat to prepare; and the seoond to start. 14th January, 1802. TWENTY SECOND ANNIVERSARY. ' pHE PUBLIC are respectfully informsd that JL a Public BALL will be given in the Odd Fellows' Hall, on ON WEDNESDAY EVENING, ;■• ;The 22nd January, 1862, To celebrate the arrival of the first Settlers "in Wellington. Tickets to admit a Lady and Gentleman, 7s. Qi. each. Extra Ladies' tickets, 2s. Cd. Refreshments included. Tickets may be had of Mrs. Levy, Mr. John Duck, Mr. Freeman, and at the Office of the Ikdependent, On the evening of the Ball, tickets can be obtained at the office at the North Wing of the Hall. Mr. Freeman has been engaged to provide the Refreshments. An Excellent Quadrille Band bas been engaged for the occasion, under the direotion of Mr. Currie. The Spacious Suite of Rooms will thrown open on the occasion, and eyery arrangement wili be made to secure the comfort and accommodation of visitors. Mr. Buck has been appointed Master of Ceremonies, and the utmost decorum will be observed. Oth January, 1862. W, DAVIS.
