SCHOOL RUNNERS
ANNUAL STEEPLECHASE HELD SENIOR HONOURS TO A. WORTH The annual steeplechase of the Waihi 'High School was held- last Thursday. Competition was keen and many close finishes were witnessed. The senior and intermediate course, which runs round the Martha Hill, was of approximately three miles, while the junior course was about U miles.
A. Worth won the senior event and secured the fastest time '(l6 min .41 secs). He therefore holds the Steeplechase Cu pand Callwell Shield for 1942. Results:—
Senior (over 15): A. Worth (50 secs), 1; N. Thomas (scr.), 2; B. Scoble (50 secs), 3; I. Hayter (2 min), 4; J. Gordon (2 min 40 secs), 5; S. Delamore (5 min), 6. The fastest times were: A. Worth (16 min 41 secs), 1; N. Thomas (16 min 47 secs), 2; B. Scoble (18 min 62 secs), 3.
Intermediate (135 to 15 years) 1 : M. Davies (scr.), 1; A. Morgan (2 min 20 secs), 2; N. Angell (2 min .55 secs), 3. Fastest time: M. Davies (17 lpin 15 secs), 1; R. Shergold '(18 min 31 secs), 2; A. Morgan (19 min 5 secs), 3. Junior (under i3J years): R. Kermode (110 secs), 1; W. Lowrie (110 secs), 2; R. Delamore (110 secs), 3. Fastest times: J. Frewin (7 min 35 secs); 1; R. McEnteer (8-min 2 secs), 2; R. Dunne '(8 min 25 secs), and S. Jesney (8 min 25 secs), 3 equal.
