COMPETITION FOR DAIRY HEIFERS The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., reports having held their fortnightly stock sale and special heifer fair in Waihi on Thursday when a medium yarding of beef and boner cows was penned, a?rd sold on a par with Frankton quotations. A few potter hulls realised late rates. Dairy heifers: Fully the advertised entry of dairy heifers came forward before a good attendance of buyers. The quality of the yarding was not up to expectations, there being only a small proportion of well-grown cattle, for which competition was steady. Small and poorer enditioned cattle were not keenly sought after, and values in most cases failed to reach vendors’ reserves. Pigs: A good yarding of l’ats, including a large proportion of baconers. Competition was keen and practically a total clearance was effected. A small yarding of stores and weaners was dull of sale. Quotations are: Cattle: Medium fat Jersey cows and heifers £5 to £6 10s, heavy fat Friesian cows £6 to £6 10s, killahlo Jersey cows £4 5s to £4 15s, heavy boner cows £3 5s eto £3 15s, medium £2 10s to £3, light 25s to £2, potter hulls £6 to £7 10s, light potter bulls £4 5s to £5 7s Gd, small Jersey lieifer calves £2 13s.

Dairy Heifers: Best Jersey and Jer-sey-cross heifers £7 10s to £S 10s, smaller £6 5s to £7, inferior and poorer conditioned £4 5s to £5 15s, Friesian heifers £G 10s to £7 7s Gd, smaller £5 10s to £6 2s Gd, Shorthorn heifers £7 10s to £B, smaller and poorer enditioner £4 7s Gd to £5 ss. Pigs: Prime heavy baconers £4 to £4 7s, medium £3 10s to £3 17s, light £2 15s to £3 ss, heavy porkers £2 8s to £2 14s, light 38s to £2 ss, good store pigs 20s to 30s, small 18s to 21s, weaners 8s to 10s.
