WAIHI MAGISTRATE’S COURT

RETURNS FOR QUARTER ENDED AIARCH 31 CRIMINAL AND CIVIL CASES Thirty-nine males and two females were either summoned or apprehended to appear before the Waihi Alagistrate’s Court during the quarter ended March 31. Of them one, a female, was dealt, with in the Children’s Court. Fines imposed amounted to £2t> 15s and criminal fees to £ll 19s. In the civil division 33 plaints, involving a total of £2(111 11s Sd, were entered, and 2S. involving claims amounting to £2(13 Ss Id, wore disposed of. Of the latter amount, £l4 4 14s (id, or slightly more than 55 per cent., was recovered. Civil fees totalled £35 10s.

Thirty-seven miner’s rights were issued in the Warden’s Court during the three months, and seven mining licenses were granted. As receiver of gold revenue, the clerk of the court, Air r. T, Fall well, collected £428 7 s Id.
