The Times’ Dublin correspondent unites: —“All sections of public opinion realise that the Government mu sit change its methods quickly to prove its earnestness for a settlement, and it must devise new methods to suppress crime. The authorities are confronted with, a heavy task, but if they are firm and tactful they will find immediate support from large sections of the community. The most deplorable iea.ture. of the outrages was the existence of such a widespread plot without Hie authorities’ slightest foreknowledge. The raids were carried out simultaneously throughout tile country, the incendiaries in every instance escaping detection.”’ The Irish Times, commenting oh the -outrages says:—“The government of Ireland is being rudely and swiftly slaatchcd from English hands.” Tiro Freeman's Journal says;—“Patience and brains are already more than a match for bayonets and barricades, and a more memorable triumph is not likely to be Icing delayed.”
ARREST OF WOMEN PICKETS. (Received April 7, 8.50 a.m.) WASHINGTON, April 5. THvo women picketing the British Embassy advocating freedom for Ireland were arrested.
