DANGEROUS ROAD
TO THE EDITOR. . • Sin,—l iiiulerstniKl the liorough Coun- 1 cil have been mado acquainted with the dangerous condition of Symonds-street, which leads to the Freehold, especially the lower end, approaching ilie bridge. The road at this spot is nothing less than a hot;, and unwary travellers pass therein and come to grief, as was the case yesterday afternoon with a vehicle, the horse of which got bogged and fell down, and the occupants—one ii lady—had to walk knee drop through the mild to a place of safety. The path at the same spot is full of holes caused by horses going oyer it to escape tlic bog. Into one of these 'holes my foot went the other night, and it almost paused my ankle to lie sprained. The responsibility of this deplorable thoroughl'uro rests upon tho. powers tluil he', and unless they arise at nuco and make it safe for traffic I fear smoothing will take place for which they will appeal' to ho sorry for. The insertion of this letter in your esteemed paper will oblige yours truly, "WAICHKH, I'rcchokl, W'aihi, Aug. 27, 100".
