ACCIDENT AT KAKARAMEA.

A serious accident occurred last week to a returned soldier named Clinton, who is farming at Kakaramea. It appears that in company with another he was engaged in getting gravel out of a pit on the property formerly occupied by Mr J. P. Williamson. His mate noticed- that the top portion of the pit npi«eared unsafe and warned Clinton, but before the latter could get away about half a ton of gravel fell on him, (.rushing one of his legs badly. Assistance was soon forthcoming and the injured man was extricated from the earth and gravel and conveyed to the Patea Hospital, where bo is doing as well as can bo expected. It will be some weeks before he is able to get about again.—Press.
