HEALTH OF WOMEN AND CHILDREN.

(Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 23. The conference of the Royal New Zealand Society for the Health of Women and Cuildren finished to-day. It was decided that the Railway Department be asked to place ■in every railway waiting room a notice drawing attention to the address of the nearest PJunket Nurse. A proposal to affiliate with the National Council of TV omen was defeated. The conference agreed (1) that moving pictures, as at present shown, are injurious to children and young persons ; (2) that in regard to moving picture shows this conference represent to the Government its very strong feeling as to the utter inadequacy of the present provision in the way of regulation and censorship to safeguard the children of the Dominion; (3) that the attendance of children at picture shows and the pictures allowed to be shown to children should be regulated through the Education Department; (4) that picture programmes should bo classified into (a) adult programmes; (b) children’s programmes. The election of the Central Council resulted: —President Mrs Johnstone; vice-presidents, Airs W. F. Massey and Mrs McGoorge; committee, Mesdamcs L. Blomfield, Pyne, Newman, T. K. Sidey, Vigor Brown, J. C. McGeorge, A. Moore, C, W. Rat-* tray and Snow; treasurer, Mrs Thcomin; secretary, Miss Stoddinott.
