SIDE-SHOWS.
To the Editor. Sir, —Will you please publish this letter, as I wish your correspondent “Victim” to know that there were plenty more who suffered the same as he did — ■worse if any thing. I was charged Is and paid 6d for my little daughter to see the show at the Racecourse on Children’s Peace Day, and it was an absolute “have.”* The said “shew” appeal's to be run by one man a.nd his wife, the latter selling tickets outside. You wait about half an hour inside before anything starts. Then the man gives a very bad Punch ana Judy show. Afterwards he plays a tunc on a broken-down instrument of some kind, and that completes the performance. I can substantiate al! of “Victim’s” remarks, but should not have troubled, to write, but I see the same show advertising in Saturday’s paper for Show day. I also think it was bad enough that Die children were charged anything on their Peace Day, without letting them pay their money for such a “sell,” for it was not, worth twopence let alone sixpence. Thanking you for your space.— I am, etc., ALSO A VICTIM.
