THE BANDS AND CHILDREN’S DAY.
Ta the Editor. Sir,—Some time ago your correspondents “J.D,” and others made a great fuss over and protested against the proposal of the Pipe Band and Queen Alexandra Band to play for the Labour Party’s concert, and threatened to withhold. their support if they persisted in carrying' out their promise. Yesterday was Children’s Day, and the aniversa-ry of one of the greatest- events in the history of tire world, and the hands, with the exception of the Pipe Band, were conspicuous by their absence. It would he interesting to know what “J.D.” and Co. think about it. As the result of thou* correspondence, the Queen Alexandra Band weakly cancelled their engagement on that occasion. What reason do they offer now for their non-appear-ance on Children’s Day, when the public expected all the music possible, especially as they are subsidised out of the rates, not to mention “J.D.” and Co.— —I am, etc., W.P. November 12.
