THE 1.8. R.A.
What, is the 1.8.8.A.? The letter* e t, a nd for the International Bible Reading- Association. This Association was formed by the late Mr Charles Waters, of London, nearly 40 years ago. Membership consists in payment of a small annual subscription, and an agreefent to read the selected Bible portions daily, ’file selected portions 'are the British H.S. lessons, and the “Notes” on these lessons arc issued in nearly 40 different languages. The total number of daily readers is nearly a million, of whom 15,000 reside in New Zealand. It is in the hope of increasing that number that this ha-s been written. The explanatory notes are prepared by the Bev A. Smellie, M.A., D.D., of Carluke, Lanark, Scotland, and these notes are most helpful to one’s spiritual life, and are highly valued by persons of all types, from the experienced Christian to the Sunday school scholar. The notes have been sustaining and helpful to some of our boys when in the trenches or hospitals, as well as to the minister and student in their quiet rooms. Now is a good time to join the 1.8.11.A. The local agents are Mr J. B. Macßcan, 10 Liverpool Street Extension, and Bev. G, W. Blair, Manse, 175, Anzac Parade, Wanganui East. Any who are desirous of joining might kindly send in their names with Is 3d in stamps to either of tho above, and they will receive the monthly notes for a year.
