WANGANUI HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
COTTAGE GARDEN COMPETITION. Tie above Society is out to encourage gardeners and it will assist in every way it can to make Wanganui the “Garden City.” The Society also recognises the necessity for all to cultivate their kitchen gardens and obtain the greatest possible production therefrom. With these objects in view a Cottage Garden Competition will be held in conjunction with the forthcoming Show on the sth December. The Society is giving throe prizes of £3, £2 and £1 respectively for the best, kept cottage gardens. The area must' not exceed -j-a ere with cottage, and the judges will allot points for the general lay-out, neatness, flowers and vegetables, etc. Entry fee Is, open to all. Entries close on November 24th, and any further information may be had on application to the joint hon, secretaries, Mrs E. 11. Suisted, Box 339, or Mr J. Robertson, care of Rice and Coy., Avenue. There are large numbers of gardens in Wanganui that should be entered for tiiis competition. Tesla Studios and Mr F. H Denton have kindly offered t ; take photos of the winning gardens.
