A dozen two-year-olds contested the Irwell Bandican, the W'airarapa bracket, Affectation and Eose Wreath, bavin? a decided call in the betting over Tilley’s representative, Amythas. When tike field, settled down Affectation was in front, but at the end of a furlong Cienides ran past him, while Some Kid and Amythas also became prominent. Over the last furlongs Amythas came away in fine style and beat Crenides by nearly a length, Some Kid being two/ lengths away just in front of Affecta/ tion and Boso Wreath; the being a trifle unlucky as she got/' a bump early.
