NURSERYMEN’S CONFERENCE

(Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, January 25. The Nurserymen’s Conference has concluded. A remit was adopted condemning picking over consignments which had been condemned as containing diseased trees. It was decided to hold the next conference at Christchurch. Mr H. Day (Auckland) read a paper on “After the War Conditions in the Nursery Trade.” , Mr G. Green contributed a paper on “Some Essential Elements of Success in the Nursery Business,” and Mr A. Shrailshall (Christchurch) read a paper on “Scientific Training and the Future of Horticulture in New Zealand.” The conference then decided that the Government be asked to consider 'the establishment of a Dominion institute of horticulture, under the control of the Horticultural Division, and that nurserymen’s district councils he recommended to obtain classes in horticultural science at local technical schools whereever sufficient support is forthcoming.
