ON THE WEST FRONT.
FRENCH SUCCESSES. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn, k Reuter.) LONDON, January 25. A French communique says:—We used destructive artillery fire against the enemy in the region of MoulinsSoustouvent, north-east of Hill 304. There is an appreciably violent artillery struggle in the sector at Caurieres Wood. We made several successful coups de main south of Chilly, on the Somme, near Regneville and the Woevre. Allied aircraft were successfully busy. BRITISH SUCCESSES IN FLANDERS. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn. & Reuter) LONDON, January 25. Sir Douglas Haig reports;— The enemy attempted a raid to the soiithwestward of Loos, but were easily beaten off, leaving a number of dead and wounded. We drove back a party southwards of , Hulluch. We raided trenches south-east of Ypres, and bonibarded trenches southeastward of fcouchez with good results. During air fighting, six German aeroplanes were destroyed, and three driven down and damaged- One of ours was brought down, and two are missing.
