Excessive Hours the Contributing Cause

(Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 7.

.The secretary of’ the Drivers’ Union wrote to the City Council last night calling attention to tH lanre number of tram accidents in Auckland,.which was out of all -proportion to tho population of the city, and suggesting that a contributing cause was the excessive hours worked by the riiotormen, .who often worked 16 and 18 ho tit’s por* day here. ! n Christchurch, one week, one driver worked 98 and another 104 hours. The Council referred tho letter to the Tramway Committee.
