A Nelson press wire states that the death occurred, with painful suddenness, yesterday afternoon, of: Mr. 0. W. Hanby, many years editor of the Evening Mail. He had been present 7 at the mayoral pincie at Maitai Parky and. was leaving the ground when he fell down and expired in a few minutes. Mr. Hanby was 57 years of age, and was formerly sub-editor on the Sydney Daily Telegraph. He leaves a widow ' and a grown-up family. The daughters are Mrs E. C. Robinson (Stratford) and; Miss Hanby (Nelson), and the son is Bey. H. 0. T.. Hanby, vicar of Taumarunui. The many friends of Mrs Homblbw, of Mangaw’eka, who underwent a rather serious operation at “Mafeking” private hosnital bn Wednesday, will be pleased to hear that she is progressing favourably.
