HAYWARD’S PICTURES,

A magnificent collection of pictorial creations was presented at the Lyceum Theatre last night, wheh Hayward’s Pictures underwent another complete change of programme. The-series must be written down as one of the very best for. all-round excellence that has been presented at'this popular! picture resort. “The Lighthouse by the Sea” (by the famous Edison Company) is one of the moat stirring stories of the sea yet screened here, and completely enthralled the large .audience. The shipwreck (showing the vessel hard and fast pport the' rocks, with the huge waves breaking right over her) and the thrillingrescue of the crew is vividly depicted. "Two Men and a Maid” is another intensely interesting dramatic picture, which, evoked considerable,enthusiasul,- and shows the curse of jealousy and hatred. “The Diamond Gang” is a 'thrilling- detectiye story, in which the gang are fun to earth ■after an-exciting’•chase. “Arizona Bill” is a Western drama in which some hagd riding is witnessed. The hero’s little wile eventually puts things right, and a sensational story brought forth loud applause. The scenic portion of the programme is a pleas 1 ng feature, and .was greatly appreciated. “A. Trip Through Paris on the Seine” is one of the h#t scenic' pictures ever seen here, and one is shown all’the principal sights in. the gay city. “Amongst the Mhrrutts”. - depicts these natives of Borneo in \ their haunts. The comedy element was Well surnlied bv “Winsome Winnie's. Smile,” “Bit 1 as a Vet.,” and "The Wrong Patient.” The Lyric Orchestra discoursed, sweet music. This ,splendid .programme will be screened again to-night, ahd a matinee will take ' place to-morrow afternoon at 2.30 o’clock. On Sunday everting 1 next another benefit will take place in aid of the City>Band funds. '
