% DEADLOCK CONTINUES. Beth Sides Firm. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, October 9. Matters in connection with the Mercli ant Service Guild dispute are still at a deadlock. A sub-committee composed of reprrsen tatives of both parties. Commissioner Hally presiding, met on Saturday even ing, and practically suggested that the Guild’s denunds with regard to the hours of work, which is the chief point now in dispute, should be granted by the employers. This morning, the employers refused to go any further than ihe compromise of Saturday’s conference, while the Guild demanded that payment for overtime should *bo distinctly stated. Both sides are standing firm.
