Mr Beeby, In a speech supporting the Liverpool Plains Labour candidate, declared that before the end of the session the Government intended to provide that tenant farmers would be compensated by the private owners for improvements made to their land on the termination of their lease. It was also intended to pass a Fair Rent Bill, rents to be fixed by competent Court officials. TEACHERS' SALARIES. SYDNEY, October 9. ]\fr Carmichael states that he is placing <£loo,ooo on the Estimates to provide increases in school teachers’ salaries.
