Moa, s.s., South, to-morrow. Yesterday's arrivals wore —The Gertie (from Greymouth), at 2.55 p.m.; Regulus (from Westport), at 3.40 p.m.; and Storm (from New Plymouth!, at 3.45 p.m. The harquentine Alexa, which sailed from Wanganui with a big load of timber for Sydney on July 7, arrived in the Australian port yesterday. She thus did the journey in 13 days, which is very smart sailing. The arrivals up to the time of going to press to-day were the Kapiti, at 3.15 a.m., from Westport; the Holmdale, 3.25 a.m.: Stormbird, 3.40 a.m.; and the Huia, at 3.55 a.m.; all from Wellington. The Mqa and Kennedy (from Westport) and the Aranawa (from Wellington). The Huia brought a general cargo from Wellington She should go away to-night. The Gertie discharged a cargo of coal, and sailed for Foxton at noon to-day. ■ The Storm is receiving a coating of paint. She is ing a cargo of rails, and in all probability will not get av>wy for the South before to-morrow. The Holmdale, wich arrived from Wellington early this morning, is discharging a cargo of rails for the tramways. She is due to sail South to-morrow. The veteran of local shipping circles, the Stormbird, is again in port after an absence of some weeks. During her recent overhaul in Wellington she was fitted with an insulated hold for butter traffic, and a Hercules freezing chamber has been installed. The Stormbird was built on the Clyde as far back as 1854, and was length cned in 1883. She has thus been in active commission fo~ 57 years—easily an Australasian, and probably a world's record. Notwithstanding her long term of service, she was found to be in first-class condition when stripped at the recent overhaul.
