THE SAWMILLING INDUSTRY.
A POOR OUTLOOK. (Ter United Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, November 29. A conference, of sawmillers was held here last week, and it is now reported that the sawmilling industry in Wellington, Hawke's Bay, and Taranaki districts will be in a. very bad condition. It is stated that there are very few orders, and great difficulty is being experienced in marketing sawn timber, thus resulting in all the yards beiug heavily overstocked. It is considered that most, if not all, of the mills win close down in the course 1 of a few days for the Christmas holidays. ! This means about six works' compulsory holiday tor those engaged in the industry.
