Sir Christopher Furncss, speaking at Hartlepool, said that it was long since anything approaching the present general collapse in the engineering trade had been experienced on the north-east coact. The worst seemed to be over, but the industries of the country need a period of quiet convalesence and freedom from legislative disturbances. He urged that there should be a cessation of the harassment caused by labour troubles.
