SUSPENDING PARLIAMENT.
It is seriously sated in Wellington mat certain members propose hold my a &hoit session after Christmas, and tnen doing , without Parliament until 1911. That is ' to say that New Zealand should pay iio members £MH) fcr doi.ig i-bsolutciy nothing. Doubtless there are some members whom the electors have been foolis-h enough to return to the House who would cheerfully draw £3000 a year doing the same amount. But it scarcely seems possible that the body of Parliament would countenance so unolu.slnng a proceeding. 1 Neither can we credit the statement of one Wellington paper that the proposr.l emanates irom Sir Joseph Ward. The dissatisfaction caused by his suspension of Parliament last year was very strong m some quarters, and he is scarcely likely to consent to another experiment of the kind if he wished, which he probably docs not But as the suggestion has been made, apparently in all Ferioiis>ness, tlie electors will probably look forward to an answer thereto with a certain degree of interest.
