The recent charge of attempted murder agaiust Frederick .Robert Garlick cc6t the Crown slightly over j>loo in witnesses' and jurors' expenses alone.

Jurors summoned to attend the Supreme Court, Wanganui, on Monday, 14th June, are notified that their attendance will not be required.

All interested in the work of the Associated Board are invited to be present at the distribution of certificates, which takes place in St. Paul's Hall on Friday evening, June 18th, at 8 o'clock.

A sum of .£3 5s has been handed to us by Mr Frank Stansfitld, being the proceeds of an assembly held in Stansfield Hall, Wanganui East, last evening, in aid of the fund being raised for Mrs. Mackay and family. Mr Copley supplied the music free of charge.

The American Bine Cadet team arrives in Wellington on the 20th inst., and is expected to make its way north via the East Coast, leaving for Australia after firing matches in Auckland. To-day the Wanganui branch of the National Defence League telegraphed to the American Consul at Auckland a cordial invitation to tlie team to visit Wanganui.

We notice by a Wellington contemporary thart Messrs E. and E. Tingey and Co., Ltd., painters and decox-ators, of Wellington, WQro entrusted with the painting, decorating, glazing, and embossing of tbat very fine building (the Public Trust Office), which is now completed and was taken possession of on Wednesday. We are pleased to see that this company has been entrusted with such important work, and the artistic manner in which they have finished it and the high praise bestowed by our Wellington contemporary is a distinct compliment to the firm's workmanship.
