The Common wealth Delegate's Views.

MELBOURNE, June 10

Mr Foxton, who represents the Commonwealth at -the Defence Conference, says he is in favour of a vigorous policy of naval and military defence of Australia. The naval side is, at present, first in importance, as every Australian aspires to see his country make a beginning in the construction of a local navy. In the fulness of time it may boast of a navy, but for many years it must be dependent on the British navy. He would not reduce, but rather increase, the present subsidy. These were, however, his personal views, and he had yet to discuss with his colleagues the po!icj r to be placed before tho conference.
