THE MORTGAGE TAX.
What Mr Mas«ey thinks about it
(Per United Press Association.)
AUCKLAND, April 18. Mr Massey, the Leader of the Opposition, stated yesterday that he considered the mortgage tax should be done away with, as it tended to make money dearer to the borrower, and not only that, but it had the effect of preventing money from being sent to the country for investment. "I have often wondered," he. added, "that business men took this matter so quietly, and I am glad to see attention is at last being called to it."
