CORRESPONDENCE.

A Bogey,

); . TO *HB BDITOB. -Sir, — Seeing that the newspapers are considered to be the mouthpiece of the people, I would deem it a favour if you could find space in your widely-read journal for a few remarks re the present "alleged" war scare between Great Britain and Germany. Who has originated this PrepPßterousP re pPßterous idea of war between two nationsy w*oee aim one would rather believe it should be to stick together? Why will the people of the Occident persist in fighting amongst themselves, instead of looking to the Orient, to read the handwriting .■ ,on the wall? Is this trouble that is cau£ ing- -the plutocratic press co much alarm, the outcome of bitterness, between the great mass of workers in either country? Perish the thought. And, sir, let us have more of the reverse side of the medal in the newspapers. Let them speak out the truth, not jingoism run mad, but real hve journalism, an unknown quantity in New Zealand at the present time. Let us have no more of this sectarian, advertise-ment-hunting business, or trimming to suit any particular class. And I would also Jlke to^state that it is about time we got a new Premier, as by his latest "break out Sir Joseph Ward has lost the support of a great many workers in this Dominion, if not all. of them. What was his motive? „ Self-aggrandisement? Oh, no ! We ar?, I suppose, to believe he is a 20th century Rienn. I am rather afraid it will not be swallowed. I think I have had my say, and hope that the workers of tKis fair country will not be led away by an "alleged" war scare, which has been engineered by the capitalistic section and preached by their emissiaries, the papers. "Shades of South Africa." Remember our men who fought for Mammon in Africa. — I am, sir, SOCIALIST BOGEY
