CHRISTCHURCH, March 31.
Superintendent Smith, who was appointed by the City Council to make a valuation of the city's fire plant in connection with its transfer to the Christchurch Fire Board, submitted a report to last night's Council meeting. The total amounted to £4750, which comprised two steam fire engines, two chemical engines, one manual, and a large assortment of accessories, such as hose, telescope ladders, harness, fire alarms and telephones, uniforms, etc. Superintendent Smith, who ha»-been 30 yeara in the service, was heartily thanked.
