ATHLETIC

WANGANUI A.A.' CLUB

HANDICAPS FOR THURSDAY'S SPORTS.

The entries received for the four events to be decided on Thursday afternoon on Cook's Gardens, under the auspices of the Wanganui Amateur Athletic Club, are very satisfactory, and some interesting running should be witnessed. No charge is to be made for admission, and the public are invited to attend. The first event will be decided at 3.30 o'clock, and a couple of hours' good sport may be looked forward to, as the number of entries will necessitate several heats in the short sprint events. In addition to the four handicapevents, a relay race will be' decided between teams representing the Collegiate School and the Wanganui A.A. Club. The distance will be 440 yards, each man running 110 yards, and this ought to be a very interesting competition. The fact that B. H. Morison, of the Collegiate School, who ran such a splendid race in the 880 yds at the club's spring meeting, will be a competitor in the half-mile, will invest that event with great interest. Morison's performance in the spring suggested tlat he was a coming champion over this distance, and though he is now on a back mark he will only require to reproduce the form he showed on the previous occasion to win again on Thursday. However, he will have a much harder task on this time, as he is set to meet .E.-J-. Williams (the club's crack fcalf-mijßr) o%*fe same mark, and they have to concede long starts. It should prove a good raco, and be well worth seeing. The following handicaps have been declared by Mr W. S. Corby:— 75 Tards Handicap.— E. J. W/flliams l^yds, W. Smith 3yd& F. McKenna, S.
