Two younar women in the front seats wore, laughing and giggling during the sermon, and distracting the preacher. At first Fatber O'Brien cautioned one woman that he would publicly put tifer tfut if she did not desist. This did not have any effect, and the woman continued lier unseemly behaviour. She was again spoken to, and replied' loudly: "Yoii are ma.d, you silly fool. I have not been doing anything." Father O'Brien told the woman she had been distracting him all through. The woman then rose and walked out. On her way she abused the priest, and said he "should practisp what he preached." The proceedings caused quite a sensation, and it upset the whole of a very large congregation. It is thought the woman is a stranger in the town.
