TO TRAVEL THIS STASON In Wangar.ui and surrounding district The Purebred Clydesdale Colt L E N L I V E T. Glenlivet is a btoutly-bred Clydesdale colt, having immense power and substance, groat quarters and loins, flat bono of tho best quality, nbundancc of hair of silky fineness, and is a symmetrical horse all over— a true type of the breed ho represents. He stands 16.2J, and in tho show ring has demonstrated hia superiority over his opponents. Competent judges give it as their opinion that he is one of the most perfect Clydesdales over bred in the North Inland. As regards his pedigree Glenlivet is without blemish, and few horses possess such an illustrious ancestral line. Now that the breeding of Clydesdales is being extensively followed, breeders cannot overlook tho undeniable merits of this grand colt. Glonlivot (who was bred by A. Alexander, Esq., Waihi, Normanby), is by the renowned sire Glengyle— a lioiso that comes from a great strain. Glengyle has no less than eighteen first and champion prizes to his credit, whilst his stock havo all turned out well, and sell at oxcoptionally high pricos. Glengyle is by Prince ot the Isles (imported and sold at Oamaru for 450 guineas), by Honest Tom. Prince of tho Isles took numoroiis first prizes at Home, and proved himself a biro of rare quality. Glongylo's dam, Helen McGregor, is by Glenroy, by Prince of Wales (imp.); dam. Darling, by Redman (imp.); g.d. Lily, by Georgo Buchanan (imp.). Helen McGregor's da-,n, Violet, by Sir Colin Campbell, by King Fergus, dam Scotland's Pride. Glenlivet's dam is that well-known prize taker Rose, by Director, who is by that celebrated siro Young Banker (imp.), from Queen Isabella 11., by Young Vanquisher (imp.); g.d. Queen Isabella, by Campsio 111. (imp.); g.g.d. The Belle, by Blair's Champion (imp.) Queen Isabella 11. is full R'.stcr to Glciicoe, a winner of first and champion prizes. Young Banker was never beaten in tho Southern Hemisphere. Director won numerous first a,nd champion prizes. At Wanganui ho beat Blackleg, the latter having previously beaten Robin Adair at Hawke's Bay. Rose's dnra, Primrose, is by Glenroy, by Prince of Wales (imp.) ; dam Darling, by Redman (imp.); g.d. Lily, by Georgo Buchanan (imp.). In the show ring Glenlivet's dam, Rose, gained tho following awards: — Ist at Egmont iv 1893; 2nd in 189-1; Ist and champion in 1895 ; lht in 1896 ; Ist and champion at Wancauui in 1895 ; and Ist in 1895, 1897, and 1898 at Taranaki. Thus at eight shows she was only defeated once. It will thus bo seen from the foregoing that Glenlivet comes from exceptionally good slock. Possessing a double strain of tho valuable Prince of Wales' blood makes his worth as a siro all the more apparent. Not only is ho descended from a great family of prizetakers, but also from stock that form pillars of the Clydesdale Stud Book. Breeders therefore may consider themselves as being specially favoured in having such a. horse in their district. Terms:— Singlo mares, .£3; two or mnro as per agreement.
