MUSEUM COMMITTEE.

At the adjourned meeting last evening in connection with the Public Museum, there were present :— Messrs Carson (Chairman), Nixon, H, Sarjeant, Stevenson, Drew Harper, F. R. Jackson, Spurdlei Spencer, Harvey, Foster Harvey, Sheriff, Martin, Blair and Andrews. Apologies were received from Messrs Marsha!!, Atkins and Bindon. The canvassers reported additional subscriptions, bringing the total amount promised up to date to £088 4s 6d. Tho Seoretary stated that he had received a reply from the Premier, stating that the delirery of monthly lectures would, he thought, bring the Museum under (he proposed Bill dealing with technical education. The Seoretary rsad the report of the Committee appointed to draw up a constitution for the Museum. It was moved by Mr Andrews, seconded by Mr Nixon and carried, that the institution be incorporated under the provisions of " The Public Libraries Act, 1875," on the lines laid down in the draft declaration of incorporation now read. That the form of such declaration be settled by the trustees, and that the engrossment thereof be signed by any ten members present at this meeting, and being trustees. Tho following officers were appointed : — Presidont, Mr G-. Carson ; vicepresidents, Messrs H. Sarjeant, W. Empson, and J. T. Stewart j Director, Mr S. H. Drew; Seoretary, Mr E. W. Andrews ; Treasurer, Mr J. H. Nixon ; Committee, Messrs Marshall, Atkins, Blair, Jackson, Barnicoat, Turner and Spurdle. The following wero appointed an Art Union Committee :— Messrs Stewart (convener), Blair, Sheriff, Bnd Martin. It was arranged that the trustees meet in a fortnight. On tho motion of Mr Drew, a hearty vote of thanks was tendered to tho Library Direotors for the use of a room foi the Museum meetings, The latest snbioriptions to the fund include, Mr D. Blair, £6 6s ; Mr O. Greenwood, £5 6jj Miss Harrison and J. Burnett, £5 each j Mesßrs H. I. Jones, T. F. Drummohd, ,R. Campbell, W. D. Anderson and Mrs Moore, 1 guinea each; Messrs H. Black, G.
