Electoral Neivs.
Mr Georgo Fisher addressed the city j electors at Wellington last night, and declared against the Property Tax, whioh, he considered, should be replaced by a Land and Income Tax ; the absentees should also be compelled to contribute to a much larger extent to the taxation of the country. He applauded the stand Mr J. A. Millar had taken at the Labour Conference, and said it was not patriotic of employers to hold aloof from that conference in the way they had done. He would support the present system of education, and would like to see the Government open out at least one of the coal mines of Now Zealand. A vote of thanks and confidence was passed. It is understood that Mr Robert Winter, who was one of the railway delegates from Christchurch, will contest a Wellington seat in the labour interests.
Mr J. D. Lance addressed the electors of Oxford, Christchuroh, receiving a vote of thanks. He advocated freehold tenure, half-hour Bible reading in schools, and declined to plodgo himself to either political party as at present constituted.
