Our Fire Brigade.
SOCIAL GIVEN BY THE MBMBEHS.
The popularity of the Wattganui Volunteer Fire Brigade was amply testified last night by the large number of guests who responded to tho invitations sent by the members to spend a social evening at tho Hall, and thero wero fully 200 present, presided over by Captain Ferry. The musical programme was contributed solely by members of the Brigade, amongst thorn two old and valued comrades, Messrs Pawson and Meuli ; also Foreman D. Kitchen and exforeman Sharpe; Firemen J. Armstrong, Wychodil, Carrell, and Quinn; Secretary T. D., Cummins, and Night-watchman Seeling. The different items were well received throughout, encores and applause being unstinted. The entertainment committee consisted of Firemen Copeland, Townsend, and Carrell, and the accompaniments were played by Messrs Coakley and Manning. During an interval refreshments of an appetising description were handed round, the firemen boing übiquitous in their endeavours to conduce to the comfort and enjoyment of their guests, and after several more vocal and other items had been given, the hall was cleared, dancing being indulged in with spirit until about 2.30 this morning. Firemam Copeland acted us M.C., and Mr Coakley assisted materially towards success by playing the dance music.
