AUCKLAND.

Dec 13. Nathan & Co. have received a cablegram from Shaw, Saville & Co. to the following effect.— "We have chartered the Coptic, lonic, and Doric for three years, or five years including a new steamer. This forms the monthly service. The Bombay sailed from St Vincent on the 9th. Advices also state that instructions have been issued to Denny 8r03., who are now building Shaw, Saville & Co.'s new steamers, to increase their engine power."

Third- class travelling is rapidly increasing on the English railways, while the first and second-class is diminishing. The third-class receipts are now more than double the first and second-class put together.
