THAMES.

January 5.

At the Resident Magistrate's Court today the case of an old man named Nolton, brought up as being the father of a child by his own daughter, was heard at length. The case was most revolting in its details. Nolton's wife gave evidence against him, in addition to that given by his daughter. The case was ultimately dismissed for want of sufficient evidence. The charge against Gudgeon.for attempted rape upon the wife of Mr Ehrenfried, the brewer, comes on definitely to-morrow. A number of counsel have been engaged, and the charge excites very general interest.
