Wellington, April 28. (From our own correspondent.) It is understood that Rolleston Superintei dent of Canterbury will be appointed permanont Under Secretary for Education, so soon as Abolition takes' effect, at the end of the next Parliamentary Session. Minister of Justice will be also Minister of Education. [PER I'BESS AGENCY.] The English mail arrived at Frisco on tho 28th March, (one day before due) but the City of San Francisco did not sail till April 3rd ; the six days' detention not yet explained. Government call for tenders for the conveyance of mails twice a week each way, by four horse coach, between H apier and Taurnnga. Tenders to bo sent in on the 20th May Port Chalmers, April 28. The Colima was unlocked last night, and is taking in coals. She sails nortli on Wednesday. Auckland, April 28. San Francisco mail signalled. The citizens' ball last night to the Governor was a brilliant success. His Excellency and a number of excursionists have gone to the Hot Springs. Himiona was sentenced to death for murdering a man under the belief that he exercised witchcraft, but had sentence commuted to imprisonment for life.
April 29. City of San Francisco arrived yesterday evening. Tho mail was sent south by the Taranaki at noon to-day.
