Mrs Healey is a widow with a family of four and conducts a book exchange in Bay Road, Kilbirnie.
“I am not surprised to have won,” said Mrs Healey when interviewed. “I have taken two or three tickets in every art union that has been held since my return from a visit to England four and a half years ago. I shall make another trip to England to see my eldest son and his fiancee. I have not seen him for five years.” When first found by her daughter Mrs Healey was told that she had won a £5 prize. When told that in reality she had won £2OOO she was considerably less excited than her daughter. Mrs Healey could not recollect where she had bought the ticket, but said that as soon as she remembered she would buy another in the next art union.
