STRATOSPHERE FLIGHT

WILEY POST FORCED DOWN. LOS ANGELES, Friday. Wiley Post’s attempted stratosphere flight to New York failed to-day, when he was forced doAvn in the desert, 125 miles from Los Angeles. He left the Burbank Airport at six in the morning, clad in an aluminium helmet and "oxygen pressure suit,” to withstand the high altitude. He dropped his landing gear as he took off. A landing on the body of the plane was effected with minimum damage. He hopes to repair the craft for another attempt.
