Mrs P. Collis, of Dundas, N<y&South Wales, is on a visit to Masteijßp, and is staying with her mother, Mrirßailde, s of Bentley Street. Mr H. M. Boddington has entered hospital to undergo a minor operation. It is expected that he will be about again in the course of two or three days.

The death occurred yesterday at Constable Street, Wellington, of Miss Mary Ann (Polly) Wilson, eldest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Alexander Wilson. She was, about 30 years ago, a popular teacher at the Masterton District High School.

A Wellington telegram states that Mr Fen Wang, the new consul for China in New Zealand, arrived by the Marama and was met by a number of Chinese residents. Tientsin. Miss Ethel Hackwortli, of jifijm-ver-cargill, has achieved the being the first woman accountant in New Zealand to be given a fellowship. Her application at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Society of Accountants was received for a transfer of status from associate public accountant to felloAV public accountant. Mr J. B. Reid, representative from Southland on the council, said Miss had been a public accountant for five years and was well worthy of the honour of a fellowship.

A pleasant function took place at the Carterton branch of the W.F.C.A., Ltd., on Friday night, when the staff assembled after work and presented Miss Josie Lindop with a very useful travelling bag, on the occasion of her leaving the employ of the firm on account of her approaching marriage. Mr A. D. Taylor, manager of the drapery department, on behalf of the staff, made the presentation, and in doing so expressed regret that Miss Lindop was leaving them. He conveyed to her the staff’s very sincere wishes for all happiness in her future life. Miss Lindop suitably acknowledge the gift, and good wishes. Cabinet has decided that the Prime Minister (tho Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes) should attend the King’s Silver Jubilee celebrations in London. He will be accompanied by Mrs Forbes.
