FRIENDLY SOCIETIES
DISPENSARY BOARD. ANNUAL REPORT. Tho following is the annual report of the Friendly Societies Dispensary Board for the past year:— On behalf of the Committee of Management I have pleasure in submitting this, the eighteenth annual report and balance sheet, which is very satisfactory. A much better position is disclosed than during the previous year, and a£ter providing for reasonable expenses, which in a number of cases are sub-
stantially lower, and allowing for depreciation to the extent of £34/1/10, the Profit and Loss Account shows a nett profit of £251/1.3/1, which has been transferred to the Appropriation Account, together with a surplus derived from the realisation of Government Securties.
Credit for the major portion of the results is due to the Manager (Mr Taylor) and assistants, who have done exceptionally good work in maintaining the prestige of the Dispensary, not only to Lodge members but also to the general public, and we extend to them our best thanks.
The average number of members on the list for the year was 757, which is a slight decrease from last year’s total.
The total number of prescriptions dispensed to members was 6286, which is equal to 8.3 per member as against 5474 and 7.13 respectively for the previous year, which shows that much extra work was entailed in the dispensing department. During the year Court Kopuaranga Foresters’ Lodge was admitted under conditions satisfactory to your Committee. Attendances at the 15 meetings which were held during the year are as follows, viz., Bro. Anderson 12, Bro. Smith 15, Bro. Connors 14 (resigned), Bro. O’Leary 1 (Jan., 1935), Bro. MeArley
15, Bro. Hartmann 11, Bro. Tooby 14, Bro. Davis 13, Bro. Gunn 11, Bro. Walker 14, Bro. Barr 9, Bro. Laing 13, Bro. Norris 12, Bro. Newman 3 (Oct. 1934). It is with regret that we have had to accept the resignations of Bros. Anderson (president) and Connors, who have both done valuable work on behalf of the Dispensary, and we place on record the good services rendered by them. All members are thanked for their assistance during the past year and I earnestly hope that we shall have their full co-operation during 1935-36.—For and on behalf of the Committee, G. J. Norris, vice-president.
